Mrs. Dorothy Jean Fourston

THE LEGACY OF DOROTHY JEAN FOURSTON....WHO CAN FIND A VIRTUOUS WOMAN? FOR HER PRICE IS FAR ABOVE RUBIES (PROVERBS 31: 10-31)... Dorothy Jean Thomas was born in 1933, to the union of John and Hester Thomas, in Paducah, KY. Her parents provided her with the nurturing and guidance to withstand life's challenges. She was affectionately known as "GiGi", Granny and Dot. She received her formal education in the city of Paducah, lastly attending Lincoln High School, then, relocated to Milwaukee, WI in 1951. In 1954, she married Lester Fourston Sr. and they were happily married for 47 years, until his death in 2002. Dorothy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, at an early age and was united with Washington Street Baptist Church in Paducah, KY. She, then, united with Tabernacle Community Baptist Church in 1954 and was a member for over 60 years. She was recognized, as a honorary member of Tabernacle Community Baptist Church's usher board. She was employed at General Merchandise, until it closed. She was, then, employed at Clark Street School for a time, but her primary focus was her family and being a housewife and mother. She felt that her greatest accomplishment was raising her children in a Christian home. In 1990, Dorothy received the MVF (Most Valuable Fan) Award of the Tabernacle softball team. Dorothy had a wonderful dense of humor and believed that life was much too difficult to go through without a good laugh. She was, also, a connoisseur of hats......... Life should not be measured by the number of years but by the love shared, the memories, the joy given and the blessings received.....Dorothy Jean Fourston's life was full and with many friends. On January 23, 2017, God, in His infinite wisdom, opened up the windows of Heaven and Dorothy found peace at approximately 9:00AM. Dorothy leaves to cherish the memory of her rich and full life her: four children: Lonnie Jean Fourston-Reid of Phoenix, AZ, Lester Fourston Jr. (Sheila), Sherry Deleece Fourston-Berry (Dwain) of Milwaukee, WI, Tracy Ann Fourston-Murley (Teddy) of Houston TX; one brother, John F. Thomas (Loretta) of Chicago, IL; seven grandchildren: Julius Fourston of Milwaukee, WI, Richard Kevin Reid of Phoenix, AZ, Leslie Fourston, Angelo Murley of Milwaukee, WI, Sabrina Savage of Houston, TX, Justin Fourston and Otha Savage III of Milwaukee, WI; ten great-grandchildren: Ashley, Kyiesha, Nyiesha, Lakeesha, Kenyata, Jaylon, A'Nya, Elijah, Dahlia and Kailyn; three great great-grandchildren: Josiah, Kali and Jamal; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her: parents, brother, Gus and sister, Louise.
