Mrs. Flossie Mae Pannell

On November 5, 2025, Flossie Mae Pannell, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully at the age of 92. Flossie was born May 20,1933, in New Albany, Mississippi to Carl and LuCressie Foster. Flossie was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Quincy Carl, Judge, Paul, John, and Lillie, and a beloved daughter-in-law also named Flossie/Niecy (Robert). She leaves to cherish her memories and will be greatly missed by her only remaining sibling, her devoted sister Della Evans of Peoria, Illinois; her beloved children: daughters Tina Pannell Mason (Georgia), Patrricia Ann (BW), Doris, and Zola (Michael); sons Don Edward (Sheri) Booker T. (Aleis), Elliott, and Robert; precious grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of church family from Greater Bethlehem Temple World Ministries, and Jericho Baptist Church, along with countless nieces, nephews and friends. Flossie started taking care of others at a very young age. She touched the hearts of all those who she cared for with her kindness, wisdom, quick wit, and unwavering love. With an eighth grade education, she was able to use her "make-do" attitude and strong work ethics to raise eight children with strength, determination, and faith that moved mountains. She guided her children and their children with her special wisdom, a nice, braided switch when necessary, a warm hug, and her signature quick wit. One of her favorite sayings was, "Common sense isn't so common," a phrase that reflected her practical wisdom and no-nonsense approach to life. Flossie was a faithful servant of the Lord. Her deep faith and unwavering spiritual strength sustained her through life's challenges. Her religious journey began at Jericho Baptist Church, where she introduced her children to the teachings of Christ. She later became a devoted member of Greater Bethlehem Temple where she enjoyed helping in any way she could. Her presence, prayers, and service blessed many lives. Flossie loved hosting and entertaining her family and friends during special occasions. She could make the best soul food, homemade biscuits, and desserts. Her hands were rarely still-she was always doing something to help her family, including her church sisters. She loved finding treasures at thrift shops and garage sales, always managing to find something special to bless her loved ones. For many years, Flossie worked faithfully in her church and loved being 'mother' to all her children at church. Her servant heart and dedication to those she loved defined her life and left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Flossie's legacy of caregiving and fierce devotion to family and friends will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
