Mr. Floyd Parker Myers

Floyd Parker Myers was born November 3, 1926, in Canton Mississippi. He was one of six children and the third oldest son of the late Arthur L. and Nancy Myers. Floyd was baptized and nurtured in the Christian faith at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where he attended regularly and participated in all church and youth activities. Floyd received his formal education in the Public School System in Canton, Mississippi. Later, he joined Madison Woodwork Co. where he was employed as a Finishing Operator for several years. After many visits to Wisconsin, Floyd decided the time had come for a change. In 1950, he relocated to Milwaukee, WI. Upon arriving, he joined the rest of his family and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Later, he united with Greater Galilee Baptist Church where he remained a member until his death. He was employed by A.O. Smith Corporation as a Crane Operator. He retired in 1990 after 40 years of dedicated services. Floyd was the devoted husband to Rachel E. Myers. They were united in marriage May, 1966. He was the loving father of one daughter, Annie Bell King. He was a man of deep faith. He was positive and uplifting. His mantra was "Always look on the bright side, see the good instead of the bad." He was sensitive, quiet, generous and caring. He was a man of few words, but the words held deep meaning. His expressions were direct, stated in his own special vernacular and filled with wisdom. He was plain, simple and unpretentious. He knew who he was and whose he was. He could sit in the back seat and still drive the car. He was respected and well liked by those who knew him. He was devoted to his family, cared deeply about people especially children and the community at large. He was always willing to help where needed. He was a proud man; he liked being well dressed, looking good. He enjoyed traveling, good food and drink, hosting cookouts where he was the master chef. Food was generally the centerpiece for all the family gatherings. Spending time with loved ones, especially his grandchildren, his nephews and nieces was what brought him joy. It was at this time that he had their attention and he would always shower them with wisdom and sound advice whether they wanted it or not. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur L. and Nancy Myers; brothers, Sam W. Myers and Arthur L. Myers, [r., and sister, Rushelle Myers Hill. On Thursday, October 13, 2016, Floyd peacefully departed this life moving from labor to reward. He is survived by his wife, Rachel E. Myers; daughter, Annie Bell King, Muskegon MI; two sisters, Matilda Myers Chaffee, Canton, MI and Anna J. Holland, Milwaukee, WI; three grandchildren, John Daryl King (Angela), Stephanie McAllister and Shawndra Saine (Maurice); four great-grandchildren, Darekeo King, Jonae King, John Demetrice King, Chanice King; six great, great grandchildren all of Muskegan, MI; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host friends. Floyd is deeply loved. His absence leaves a void in our lives that is not easily filled. He is now at peace, free from pain and suffering. He has gone beyond our small concerns, and now knows 'what we cannot. It is well!
