Ms. Gladys Mae Taylor

GLADYS MAE CARTER was born on July 18,1955, to the loving parents, Willie and Cary Carter in Greenville, Mississippi. Gladys attended Harper High School in Chicago, Illinois, graduating in June 1972. She went on to further her education in Child Care Services in Milwaukee, where she earned her associate degree in Eady Childhood Education. She dedicated several years to caring for young children before spending over fifteen years at Arandell Corporation in Milwaukee. She later stepped away from work to focus on spending more precious time with her family following a cancer diagnosis. She accepted Christ at an early age and loved the Lord. She served under the leadership of Bishop Walter Harvey for fifteen plus years at Parklawn Assembly of God now known as Embassy Center MKE. She served faithfully and did whatever she could in multiple capacities. She was an intern for her Life Group and also a member of the Sliver Saints. She especially enjoyed connecting daily with her beloved sisters in Chicago. They were truly as close as could be-devoted to praying together on Wednesday mornings, gathering for bible studies, enjoying meals out, and reminiscing about cherished memories. Gladys was lovingly cared for by her devoted children, Darshell, Ginelle, Daryl (Pete) before his passing and Kelvin. They cherished their mother deeply and did everything they could to ensure she was comfortable and well cared for, surrounding her with love every step of the way. Gladys departed this life on Monday, June 8, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Cary Carter, Her Son Daryl Childress (Pete) 3 sisters: Dorothy Ann Carter, Rosemary Guidry, Patricia Ann Carter, 3 brothers: L.C. Carter, Willie T. Carter, and Baby Ray Carter. She leaves to Cherish her memories; her loving children, Kelvin Griffin, Darshell (Lamont) Downey, Ginelle Childress, 3 Sisters: Jessie Goodman, Clam Duncan and Donna Dancy (all of Chicago, Illinois) 1 Brother (C.J. Carter) Greenville, Mississippi. Eight Grandchildren: Daryl Childress III. Dennis Childress, London Downey - Harmoni Childress, Joi Childress, Logan Downey, Zacarias Childress, Zy'airr Childress, 2 Godsons: Jay Mims, Amaree Payne; i}and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
