Mr. Harry Jerome Davis

On July 10, 1951, Harry Jerome Davis was the fourth of ten children born to Fred Lee and Cora Lee Porter Davis in Jones County, Laurel, MS. Harry attended Nora Davis Elementary School, Oak Park High School, and graduated from R. H. Watkins High School. After graduating high school, he relocated to Milwaukee, WI, where he completed two years of college. At an early age Harry accepted Christ and united with the Providence Baptist Church, Laurel, MS, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. J. T. Hall. Harry Davis was united in holy matrimony with Joyce Simmons on June 14, 1995 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Together, Harry and Joyce loved and cared for their six children-Jerome, Darryl, Booker, Quincy, and Gigi. Harry was a warrior. He enlisted in the United States Army Reserves on February 7,1982, and proudly served for 22 years. Upon retirement, Harry had received numerous commendations and medals for his service to our country. Always active, Harry worked another 19 years for Royalty Janitorial Services following his retirement. Like his father, Harry loved the sport of fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed grilling and cooking and delighted in sharing these passions with his family, especially his grandchildren. A generous and protective patriarch, Harry often came to the aid of family and friends. He was proud of his service to the church, and was ordained Deacon at International Deliverance Center COGle. Harry Jerome Davis departed this life on May 24, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce Simmons-Davis, sister Dorothy Ellis, brothers Samuel, Rickey, and Carnell Davis, son Jerome LeRoy, and mother- in-law Ida Ruth Wilcher. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter Gigi Simmons, sons Quincy LeRoy (Sabrena) Sr. and Darryl and Booker Simmons; sisters Geneva Davis, Juanita Davis, and Walete Smith; brothers Fred (Gwen) and Larry (Sherry) Davis and William Smith; eleven granddaughters, Alisha LeRoy, Kahaela, Shantejah', Kyerra, [ayla, Iayda, [ayde, Wisdom, Vonasia, [ournee, and Lynzy Simmons; five grandsons, Quincy LeRoy, [r, Kenyon Terrell, and Iaquel, [aybre, and [ayden Simmons; three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
