Ms. Irene Brewer

Mother Irene Brewer was born to Martha Lee Walker and Gus Walker Sr. in Stuttgart, Arkansas on October 12, 1929. Mother Brewer married th e love of her life, Administrator Ulysses Tommie Brewer. in 1948, and celebrated this union for 63 years. She received her formal education at Milwaukee Area Technical College. She worked as a nurse's aide for many years. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, but her greatest enjoyment was attending church, serving in the ministry, and studying the Bible. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 23. The Brewers attended and served in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the historic Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ under the prophetic leadership of Pastor J.e. and Mother Ruth Williams. She taught Sunday school for over 30 years and Bishop J. C Williams appointed her church mother at an early age. In addition, Mother Brewer served what was then, Southeast Wisconsin Jurisdiction, as President of the Mothers Board, appointed by Mother Katherine Daniels under the leadership of Bishop Dennis Flakes at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ prior to establishing Peace Temple Church of God in Christ. Mother Brewer served as First Lady of Peace Temple Church of God in Christ for over 45 years, faithfully serving by her husband's side. Mother Irene Brewer was a servant at Bethel Tabernacle, where she ended her journey of faithful servant hood. She was known as Senior Mother Brewer. Mother Irene Brewer was a faithful servant, devoted mother, church mother, and friend. She departed this life on June 23, 2023. She was preceded in death by: mother. Martha Lee Walker; father, Gus Walker Sr.; husband, Ulysses Tommie Brewer; daughter, Esther Brewer; brother, Gus Walter Jr.: sisters, Katie May Walker, Ora Lee Walker, and Rosa Lee Walker; grandson, Ulysses Adams Jr.: and granddaughter, Margaret Denise Adams. She leaves to celebrate her memory and cherish her labor: dedicated son, Elder Ulysses Brewer (Linda); nine grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; the Bethel Tabernacle Worship Center Church of God in Christ Family, the Rose of Sharon District, Wisconsin First Jurisdiction, and a host of fond relatives and friends.
