Mrs. Jessie Mae Wyrick

Jessie Mae Malloy Wyrick was born in Kerling, Arkansas on March 27, 1920 to the union of Willie Foster Johnson and Herbert Mallory. She received her formal education in Magnola, Arkansas at the Shady Grove School where she completed the 8th grade. A devout Christian woman Jessie attended Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Magnolia, Arkansas where she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was indeed a beloved sister, aunt and friend. She arrived in Milwaukee on a cold winter day, February 8, 1949. She warmed the air with willingness to help everybody, a trait that truly exemplified her life. If she could help anybody, she would. On February 5, 1955 Jessie married John L Wyrick, a union that spanned over 21 years. It was early 1960 when Jessie became a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. During her membership, she was a member of the choir and the Missionary Board. Faithful in her service to God for the gifts He bestowed, Jessie served as church cook for nearly two decades. Cooking was Miss Jessie's talent and her love. She started cooking at age 17. In her lifetime she cooked for 13 years for the Belmont Hotel (downtown Milwaukee). She served another 13 years in the housekeeping department of the Milwaukee County Hospital (Wauwatosa, WI). In 1973 she became disabled and had to retire from the County, but not from service to others. She continued to cook for Canaan for the next 20 years where she rose at 4:30a.m. to be at work from 6:00-10:00 a.m. Jessie Wyrick affectionately known as "Miss Jesse" entered eternal life on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 5:30 a.m. at the Milwaukee Estates. She··was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Foster Johnson and Herbert Mallory, brothers, Rufus, Ulysee, Earnest, Lemorse, Levan, O'.B. Mallory'- and Cola Thomas, and four sisters, Thelma Archer, Alma Paige, Ernestine Richardson and Rena Franklin. She leaves precious memories: one sister,. Ms. Gladys Hill of Bell Wood, IL; three nephews, Benois (Carolyn) Franklin, of Compton, CA, Gayle (Eula) Payne of Milwaukee, WI and Jimmie Lee (Cecelia) Franklin of Apple Valley, CA; nieces, Dorothy Jean Pointer of Los Angele~, CA, Idella Franklin of Fresno, CA, Maydella Franklin of Magnolia, AR, and Debora (Tim) Knowles of Albany, GA; a very dear friend, Franklin Roosevelt Marion, and a host of other nieces, nephews and dear friends.
