Mr. John Nixon

John Nixon was born April 3rd, 1975 to the union of Arthur Nixon Sr and Martha Whitaker in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. John was born with cerebal palsy. He never let his disability control him. As a child, he played Atari and he never let his disability limit him. He rode bikes, big wheels, and raced with the special Olympics. His wide smile would brighten any room. His ability to communicate with words were limited. Although he did know how to say all four of his sibilings names, he yelled Ma constantly. He was creative with his hands and his favorite hobby was drawing. He enjoyed listening to a variety of music. As a young child his brother Latare Nixon (RIP) taught him how to ask for money. John wouId ask for two dollars and in fact if you knew him you knew that he wouldn't let you leave without giving him a dollar so most people came prepared. He always showed his love by giving you thumbs up. He received his formal education at Hamilton High school in Milwaukee, WI graduating in 1993. John races with his wheel chair in Special Olympics, he won many trophies. As an adult John attended Curative Rehabilitation Center in Milwaukee, WI for over 20 years. John was very independent Although he never walked, he crawled around to maintain his independence. John was never put into a home. His mother Martha Whitaker loved and cared for him. She promised him that he would never reside in a facility. That promise was kept. He resided with his sister Marilyn Nixon for 3 years. His nieces and nephews helped their mom care for him as well. John was loved by his family. He was the best brother and uncle. He would always lift your spirits with his wide smile and that thumbs up. For those that knew him knows that he was an incredible individual who never gave up. We know deep in our hearts John Nixon is up there still smiling wide with his brother Latare Nixon. John Nixon departed his life on September 8th 2018 peacefully in his sleep. He preceded in death by (Father) Arthur Nixon Sr, (Brother) Latare Nixon, (Paternal Grandfather) John Nixon (Paternal Grandmother) Mable Booker, (Maternal Grandmother) Hattie Whitaker; (Maternal Grandfather) Elijah Whitaker; (Uncles) Fred Booker, Cliff Booker (Aunt) Thelma Whitaker, (Cousins) Melvin Whitaker Jr; Jenny Farris, James Whitaker, Anton Alexander, Irvin Hale Jr; and Brandon Booker. He leaves to cherish (Mother) Martha Whitaker, (Brother) Arthur Nixon Jr. (2 Sisters) Marilyn Nixon and Sharon Nixon (5 Nephews) Michael Hogler, Tishaun Smith, Justin Jenkins, Joshua Jenkins, and Martavis Sanyaolu (6 Nieces) Alexandria Washington, Shenice Hagler Daniesha Smith, Tanzia Mckoy, Cydni Wilson, and Dontaeja Chambers. (2 Great Nephews) Makai Wade, and Jaiden Hagler (3 Great Nieces) Torreona Perkins, Saumya Perkins, and Brielle Harris. Host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many lifelong friends.
