Mrs. Juanita Nash

Juanita Brooks was born on January 21, 1939 to the union of Iola Clark and Ode Brooks, in Forrest City, Arkansas. Juanita received her formal education at the Shady Grove Public School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957. Studious as she was, Juanita attended Milwaukee Area Technical College and earned her LPN in 1970's. Juanita wasn't satisfied with that accomplishment and went on to attend Alverno College and became a part of the Ninety-Seventh Commencement Ceremony graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1988. With all of that knowledge Juanita was employed by Milwaukee County from 1963 to 1995. Through her love of people Juanita volunteered at Wrap Around Program that provided aid to people who experienced mental health needs. Juanita accepted Christ at an early age and grew up in the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Forrest City. In 1944 Juanita met the love of her life and they walked a Journey Of love and togetherness every day. On February 4, 1958 Juanita Brooks united in holy matrimony with Douglas Nash, Sr. in Detroit, Michigan. To this heaven ordained union they were proud parents of four children. Juanita and family relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1959. Following the leadership of her beloved grandmother India, Juanita united with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in 1961 under the leadership of Rev. Louis Beauchamp. She served faithfully in the choir, missionary society and as deaconess. And in 1995 Juanita and family became members of the Victory Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E. L. Thomas. Although the church name changed, Juanita's service remained the same. She is considered one of the founding members of Victory. We are so proud to recognize that Juanita had such a great impact on her grandchildren in her field of caring that three of her grandchildren also took on the titles of nurses. Juanita and Douglas were the proud owners of R-Legacy Transportation and other businesses in the Milwaukee area. Juanita Nash departed this life on February 17, 2025. She was preceded in death by Parents: Ocie Brooks and Iola Clark Brooks; Grandparents; India G. and Payton Jones; sisters; Oecie Lee Brooks, Gail Brooks, Francis Brooks, and her brother Hazel Edward Brooks; In-laws Robert Nash, Sr; Betty Nash, Annie Bell Turner, Lula Bell Henderson, Robert Nash, Jr., Eddie Nash and Freddie Nash, Arthur Nash, Vemell Nash, Jeanette Holland, and Ruby Wade. She leaves a faithful loving and caring husband Douglas Nash, Sr. of 67 years, sons: Douglas Nash, Jr. and Michael Nash (Anna); daughters: Pamela Nash and Anita Nash all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Five grandchildren: Candise Nash, Jordan Nash, Ranita Thurman(Quenrin), Anthony Nash and Alexander Nash; Four great grandchildren: Murdyah, Maliyah, Ni-Imah Armonie and Kai; Four sisters: Dorothy N. Brooks Hinkle, Pauline Diane Sjogren, Angela Michelle Hankins (Columbus), Wanda Timmons (Will); two brothers, David Harold Brooks (Emma) and Rickey Brooks, brother-in-law Urel Vertis "Joe Lewis" Nash (Mattie). Special recognition to Virginia Robinson who served as a goddaughter. Juanita leaves many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones to cherish her wonderful life.
