Ms. Latasha Maria Brooks

Latasha Maria Brooks was a beautiful baby born on December 23, 1975, in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Joann and Wilbert Brooks. Latasha passed away on November 17, 2022, after suffering a 2nd stroke and losing her yearlong battle with other medical complications. Latasha attended Byron Kilbourn Elementary School and went on to graduate from Riverside High School. She was known for being loud, funny and crazy! Latasha held her first job after high school at Kentucky Fried Chicken. She Loved to eat! She would reach out to Family and Friends on Holidays asking, "are you cooking, can I get a plater She had a remarkable knack for remembering EVERYONE'S Birthdays by texting or calling and reminding you of hers and the children! She was Always ready to celebrate with you! Although Latasha was not a current member of any church upon her passing, her childhood church home was Jesus Soul Saving Traveling Mission Apostolic Church. She sang in the choir, participated in Sunday School and other youth activities, and LOVED "beating" her tambourine during Praise & Worship service. She Loved the "Snack Stand"! She was Loved by so many of the members. Whatever our personal relationship with God is, let's Pray that we ALL make it to Heaven for God has the final say! She continued working in retail and held several positions as a cashier at Lena's Food Market, Kohl's Food Store, RadioShack and Family Dollar Store. She was a friendly person and loved laughing and talking with everyone she met. She enjoyed listening to various genres of music, and "shouting" to gospel music. She had a flare for dressing in her own fabulous styles and she Loved the color: Red. Latasha loved her mother and called her EVERYDAY, several times just to ask questions. She became a mother and had her special way of filling that role and taking care of the "Little Ones" as she lovingly called her children! She loved combing and styling her God-nieces, church friends and her daughters' hair. She got that gift from her Favorite cousin Mae Hardy! She was always giving her children, nephews, nieces and other kids, "Goody" bags because she kept "Snacks on deck" as she would say! Latasha was not afraid to ask, "21 questions" to anyone that she met, and she would start with her favorites: like, "What's really going on? Or, what's the problem?" She would yell out, ·WELt:' or "OKAY" when she liked something or was being sarcastic. She had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh that made you light up and you just had to join in. Latasha is preceded in death by her Father, Wilbert Brooks, Grandfather, John W. Black, Maternal Grandmother, Paternal Grandparents, and other Uncles, Aunts, cousins, God-Nephew Kortney Wade and several childhood friends. She leaves to cherish her memory a Beautiful, Loving, Loyal, Caring and Devoted Mother, Joann Brooks who Prayed with her until the end. Her Beautiful daughters and handsome sons: LaDecia Brooks, LataTrenae Brooks, (Twins) LaDaemeona and Sen'Cere Brooks-McDowell, Lamons Brooks, LaMirrah Brooks, Larry Brooks-Strawder II, Sister: Tarina (Tina) Johnson, Brother: Antwone Brooks, Great Aunt Sherry Brown, Friend: Nakiya Perkins; Grandchildren: La'Daizyah, Noah, Arielle, Ariyah, Tra'Mar, Moshe, Naelona and Nolin. God-Sisters: Natalie Allen, Tracy Sparks and Tawana Hurt; Nephews: Josiah Sr., JonQuille, Elijah, Josiah II, Logan, DaeBreon, Akhyari and Temoni. Her nieces: Antwonae, Aubrey, Taylor, JoElle, Jaliyah, L:oreal and God-niece & nephew Kirshna and Khiry. Latasha has a large Family who she loved so much and was loved by, but too numerous to name each special one, but a few of her Favorite Uncles and Aunts: Pastor Tyrone Gaston (Sabrina), Ollie Brooks (Marilyn), Venus White, Evelynn Johnson, Emma Mitchell (preceded in death}, Great Aunt: Ethel Austin And a host of other family and friends who will sorely miss her!
