Mrs. Luella Thrasher

The beautiful and graceful Luella Thrasher was born on February 27,1936 to the union of Richard Shaw and Laura Hamilton in Mobile, Alabama. She received her formal education in the Milwaukee Public School System at Ninth Street Elementary School, Roosevelt Middle School and Lincoln High School. She received Christ in her life at a very early age by her grandmother, Mama Lillie. Luella was intrigued by learning about the Lord and developed a seriously strong relationship with God throughout her life. God was the first and only head of her life. She was a faithful member of The Word Center Family Church of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and enjoyed morning worship services there with her family. Luella dreamed of becoming a dancer. She loved to dance. In fact, she auditioned for a dance company and was told her legs were too short. As she believed she could do anything she put her mind to, she ultimately knew she had a family to care for, so she became a Machine Operator at Laddish Forging Company in Cudahy, Wisconsin. It was there she retired after over 15 years of committed service. Luella was an extremely hard worker and took pride and passion in all the work she has done. In her leisure, Luella enjoyed reading her Bible, watching some of her favorite shows such as Frasier, The Golden Girls, Seinfeld, and The First 48 Hours. Her close loved ones would describe her as a "show stopper" who was always dressed to perfection in her extravagant outfits, accessorized with head pieces, pearls and a matching lipstick. She also loved to go thrift shopping downtown and on the south side of Milwaukee. Luella also enjoyed and thrived from spending time with her family. She was most proud of all of her children and grandchildren. She loved them all deeply. God called Luella from this earthly life on September 28, 2015. She leaves her three children to continue her legacy: daughters, Linda Shaw and Bernadette (Pookie) Thrasher; son, Ellary Thrasher; nine grandchildren, Torrance Shaw, LaTonya Wright, Cher Marie Thrasher, Tanishea (Nee Nee) Williamson, LaTasha Shaw, Richard (Todd) Williamson, Travis Thrasher, Tory Bond and Nodia Thrasher; eight great-grandchildren, Torshayaa Shaw, Torrance Shaw Jr., Amari Wright, Terrence Shaw, Adrien Wright, Todd Williamson, Ariana Wright and Ta'Laya Bond. Luella further leaves to cherish her memories: sisters, Ann Kennedy of Detroit, Michigan and Cathy (Cat) Hamilton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was like a "Mother" to many and also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and a host of other dear family and friends who she loved dearly. Luella was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Hamilton; father, Richard Shaw; brother, David (Happy) Hamilton; sister, Annie Shaw; son, Richard (Todd) Thrasher; and step-sons, Johnny Earl Russell and Marcus (Kent) Russell. Luella is now dancing and rejoicing in God's Premier Dance Company with her cherished loved ones who welcome her to our Heavenly Kingdom. God is so good, and His mercy is everlasting!
