Mrs. Marcia Denise King

Marcia Denise King was born on October 17, 1955, to the union of Steve and Beverly Hortman in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She received her formal education in the Milwaukee Public School System, and was a proud alumna of Rufus King High School Marcia spent her teenage years surrounded by her best friends with whom she formed a singing group known as the "Love Tones." On September 4, 1976, Marcia married her life-long best friend, Clifford King. Marcia and Clifford were blessed to raise two beautiful daughters, Tamesia and Felicia; and God graced them with 38 wonderful years of marriage. Marcia spent her early years at Calvary Baptist Church with her grandparents, Lillie and Floyd Dorsey. She I gave her life to Christ as an adult in 1983. Marcia was a long time member of New Testament Church of Milwaukee under Pastor Julius R. Malone. In 2008, she followed her husband to New Testament Central City Church, in support of their friends, Pastor Michael and Joann Harden. Marcia loved her close-knit church where she was an active member and dedicated worship team leader. Marcia worked for Ameritech for many years, dunng this time, she earned her Master of Science degree in Communications. However, she had a passion for young people and their academic success. This passion led her to various teaching and academic support postions in the Milwaukee Public Schools. Her greatest desire, however, was to help high school students attend college. Marcia dreamed of becoming a licensed school counselor. In 2011, her dream became a reality as she earned her Master of Education degree in School Counseling from Concordia University. During the 2013-2014 school year Marcia spent many of her nights diligently revising transcripts, writing letters of recommendation, and administering online courses to her high school students. Marcia considered it a blessing and an honor to help her students achieve academic success; and on graduation day, she knew that she made a difference when she looked upon the gleaming faces of her students and their families. Marcia loved interior design. In her free time, she enjoyed designing floor plans for her dream house. She also loved singing, reading, and watching movies with her family. Marcia also had the ability to speak life into bleak situations. Those who were close to her knew her as the "Master Encourager". She delighted to see those she loved do well. Marcia was everyone's cheerleader! Those who knew Marcia well knew her as "the quiet storm". She was not a woman of many words, but when she did speak, her words were full of power and love. Even during her toughest moments, she made it a point not to complain. One of her most common phrases was, "We gotta pray" and she would often advise, 'You galla seek God like never before: Marcia was an extremely devoted wife and mother, and she selflessly poured her heart into her husband, children, and grandcbildren every single day. She adored her grandchildren and video chatted with them all the time They affectionately called her "May-ma'and were always excited to talk to her and visit her, even baby Giselle! Marcia went to live eternally with Christ on October 11,2014. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Floyd and Lillie Dorsey, her paternal grandparents, Alex and Pearl Hortman, Her parents, Steve and Beverly Hortman, her uncle, William Dorsey. and a very special aunt, Carolyn A. Dorsey. Marcia Leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Elder Clifford L. King, two daughters, Tamesia (Cirilo) King Sosa (Madison, WI), Felicia King, and three beautiful grandchildren whom she loved with all of her heart: Cirilo M. Sosa, Sarai K. Sosa, and Giselle C. Sosa. Marcia also leaves behind a host of cousins, extended family, her beloved church family, and numerous friends.
