Mrs. Opal Jenkins

Opal Lee Burns was born on November 9,1949 in Malvern, Arkansas to the union of Allie Louise Burns and Leo Burns. Opal attended Lincoln High School and Graduated with honors from Rufus King High School. . She was an employee for over 20 years and retired from Northwestern Mutual Life. She loved her family, and was a foster parent for over 10 years. Hanging out with her siblings was her favorite pastime. She watched movies and ate good food on Tuesdays with her sisters. She enjoyed shopping, rummaging, and resale shops, and she was definitely a sharp dresser. Opal didn't have any biological children but she loved her nieces, nephews and greats alike. Opal received Christ as her savior and was a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Leroy B. Mixon and Jericho Church Without Walls under the leadership of Pastor Anthony D. Burns. Opal was a songbird she loved to sing and was a part of the choir and was a soloist. Opal was preceded .in death by her parents, Leo & Allie Louise Burns. Grandparents, Balium & Essie Lee Burns, her brother Kelvin Burns, and her sister Lynne Harris. Opal departed this life on Saturday, March 27, 2021. Two sisters: Claudine Burns and Abbie Burns (Ismail) Resul; four brothers: Johnny (Charlotte) Burns, Leotis Mable) Burns, Frederick Charles (Brenda) Burns and Loretta Keys all from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Kenneth (Sherrie) Burns, Sr. of Columbia, South Carolina, Fifteen nephews: Pastor Anthony (Robin) Burns, Erbia (Latonda) Tucker Jr., Marcus (Millicent) Tucker, Darryl Tucker, Reginald (Eboney) Bell, Johnny Burns, Jr., Dorian (Chandra) Burns, Lawrence Burns, Earl Armstrong, Brian Burns, Eferin (Latreeta) Burns, Sr., Terrance Burns, Antoine Burns, Kenneth (Toni) Burns, Tr., Eric Charles Broughton and Andre Douglas. Fourteen nieces: Anette Burns, Yvonne (Jerry) Clayton,Simone (Timothy) Boone, Shaklella Burns, Neahyomi Burns, Andrea Bell, Anitra (Khalid) Zafari, Marnita Hasan, Leronda Hasan, Famita Burns, Amina Burns, Nakisha Lynne Burns, Iesha Burns, and Latisha Burns. A special friend Alberta Tack and a host of special great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
