Mr. Orville Newburn

Orville Newburn was born on February 13, 1946 to the union of Arthur Newburn and Marilyn Clay Newburn in Grand Chain, Illinois. Being the eldest of seven children, he seriously took on the responsibility of helping with his siblings when his father passed away. Orville received his formal education at North Division High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and furthered his education at UW-Milwaukee. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. In later years, he joined the Holy Cathedral Church Of God In Christ. Orville maintained his faith in Jesus Christ reading his Bible daily, watching TV ministries and enjoyed listening to gospel music. Orville enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on November 12, 1965 becoming a Tank Operator. After serving in Vietnam, Orville was honorably discharged on November 11, 1967 and awarded The Purple Heart. When talking about the Marine Corps and others mistakenly called it the Army, Orville was quick to correct you with firmness. He was a very proud Marine. Orville worked as a mailman with the United States Postal Service for 27 years. Orville, affectionally known as "mailman", was a strong proud man. He was hardworking, compassionate and dependable. He retired from the Postal Service in 2005. Orville met his current wife, Verlene, when both were working at Milwaukee County Department of Health and Social Services. They were married in December 1992, honeymooning in Hawaii. From this union, they were blessed with one child, Terrence. Orville loved his family and his biggest passion in life was his grandchildren. His avid interests included his extensive music collection, shopping for clothes and shoes, the Green Bay packers, gaming, watching old western classics and spending time with friends. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed. Orville Newbum departed this life on Sunday, October 16, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Newburn; three brothers; Michael Newburn Stanley Newburn and Allan Newburn. Orville leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Verlene P. Newburn; two sons, Christopher Newburn, Terrence Newburn; four daughters, Michale Newburn, Orielle Newburn, Cathy Lovies-Newburn, Tabitha Perry; his loving mother, Marilyn Newburn; one sister, Deborah (Frank) Kincaid; two brothers; James Newburn, Ronald Newburn; nine grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
