Mr. Robbie D Hopkins

Robert Duron Hopkins "Robbie D. Love" was born January 21, 1967 to Rose and Robert in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Robert was also known as 'Robbie D' to family and close friends. Robbie received his education in the Milwaukee Public School System and graduated from Harold S. Vincent High School in 1985. In 1987, he started his cosmetology career at IBA Cosmetology School receiving his license in Barber & Cosmetology and received his managers license at MATC in 1989. In addition, Robbie D attended Dudley Beauty College in North Carolina, where he received his Masters of Cutting certification. Robbie D passion and strength was cutting and designing women's hair giving them styles that set them apart! Robbie put the "S" in 'suave' and the "F" in 'fashion' - whenever you saw him he was dressed to the '1'!! As many of us know he also tried his hand in photography. In November 1983, God blessed Robbie with his first child, Cheri Chantelle Howard- Taylor (Anthony Taylor II). In June 1989, God blessed Robbie with a second daughter, Brittany LaShay Rodgers. Robbie was very in love with his girls and (sometimes) loved doing their hair. Later in life he found his strength and relationship with God during his long battle with his chronic heart condition. He was a fervent listener of Bishop 1D. Jakes. On April 6, 201t he was blessed with a new heart. He began to appreciate life in a new way through traveling internationally and spending frequent time in his vacation club. He spent his last years being a gift to others who were less fortunate. God gave to Robbie so that he could give to others. On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, God called his angel home. Robbie transitioned from earth to begin his new journey with God. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Jannie Foster; father, Robert D. Hopkins; and niece, LaShauntae Khara Gibson. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his parents, Rose and James Collins; his longtime girlfriend, Lisa Borum; very special friend, Stephanie Rodgers; daughters, Cheri (Anthony) Taylor and Brittany Rodgers; grandchildren, Mattison Elizabeth Pitts and Anthony Bernard Taylor III; a very special step-granddaughter, Azaria; sisters, Cheryl Nash, Marla Carter, Alicia (Darrick) Gibson- Williams, and Latasha (Valendino) Watson; and brother, Rodney Gibson. He also leaves behind a very special bond with the Collins family; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and favorite cousins, Christopher Williams and David Thomas; and special lifelong friends, who became his brothers, Mickey Critton Sr., Greg Coley, Tony Canada, Alonzo Kimble, Lorenzo Williams, Shawn Moore, Dwayne Carter, and Stephen Johnson "Muddy".
