Mrs. Rose Thelma Taylor

Mother Rose T. Taylor (affectionately called Bay) was born on May 17,1940, in Covington, TN. She entered eternal life on October 18, 2022. She was the fourth of 13 children born to the union of John Edward Sr. and Della Mae (Jackson) Taylor. She accepted Christ as Lord and Savior in her youth and attended St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Covington, TN. She relocated to Milwaukee, WI with her four children in 1966 and soon united with Damascus Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served for 56 years in many roles such as Sunday School and Baptist Training Union teacher, music ministry, usher, custodian, personal chef for the late Rev. M.P. Shackelford, caregiver, and Mother's Board. She was employed with Holiday Inn & Suites and Milwaukee Catholic Home until her retirement. She was loved by her peers, management, and everyone she encountered on the job. She took great pride in her work and operated in integrity and enthusiasm on the job. The Lord gifted Mother Rose with anointed hands, and she honored God in a spirit of humility with the work of her hands! For example, in the kitchen ministry at church, she prepared many delectable and wholesome meals and was best known for her signature desserts like caramel cake, coconut and sweet potato pies! Many fans of her work asked if she had any formal education/training in floral design and her response was "the Holy Spirit taught me how to use these hands"! She had the exceptional ability of creating the most beautiful floral arrangements such as bridal bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, and tabletop center pieces. Additionally, her holiday decorations and beautiful landscaping were showstoppers having garnered recognition by receiving several awards from the "Sherman Park Neighborhood Association" for the most beautiful and manicured landscaping in the area. She was also interviewed and featured several times on WISN12 News during their holiday segments showcasing her beautiful exterior Christmas holiday lights and decorations! She was a loyal wife to Bobby Robins her many God-given gifts, the one that truly captures the essence of her character was the role as "caregiver:' She embraced this role unlike anything else and served many in this capacity. In a time of need, Mother Rose was there and willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends near and far. She never asked "what can I do to help" because the Holy Spirit had already equipped her with what needed to be done! She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, children (Stanley and Patricia), granddaughter (Laquanda); brothers (Sonny, Larry, John Edward Ir., and William); and sisters (Dorothy and Louise). She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters (Irene Taylor and Virginia (Darel) Teat); grandchildren (Margie, Sherman, Shawn Sr., and Quincy); brothers (Rev. Walter [Edna] Taylor, James, Frank, Rev. Nathaniel, and Charles Taylor); sisters (Lue Vern and Sandra Taylor); 13 great-grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
