Mrs. Ruth Motley

Ruth "Harden" Motley, who most knew as "Mama Ruth" was born on August 12th, 1924 in Killian, AL to Charlie and Gustelia Harden. Mama Ruth joined her Lord and avior on February 17, 2019. She leaves behind her brother, Charlie Harden Florence, AL; sister, Bessie Ingram Waukegan, IL; daughters, Lisa Satterfield Atlanta, GA and Rhoda (Jack) Jenkins Milwaukee, WI; son, Rickey Motley Milwaukee, WI; honorary son, Eric Gift Groveland, FL; grandchildren, Eric Johnson, Brian Graham, Chenoa (Kordell) Woods, Alicia Nash, Jade (Tyrone) Lockwood, Devona (Juan) Contreras, Nick Webb, Maria Motley, Jacquetta Jenkins, Jessica Motley, Rickey Motley [r, and Tristan McGinnis; great-grandchildren, Chimaree McCune, Sierah Gurske, Erica Johnson, Keon Jones, [alihl Lockwood, Kalyani Johnson, Kejuan Woods, Zada Nash, Zaria Lockwood, Jeremiah Webb, twins Zyla & Zoey Nash, [ayden Green, and Jamani Lockwood; and a host of nieces and nephews. Ruth was baptized and accepted her Lord and Savior at a young age. Mama Ruth was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church for over 50 years, and once she was unable to attend, she sent her tithes faithfully each Sunday. In the Bible Ruth was a symbol of abiding loyalty and devotion and Mama Ruth was that and much more in her life. he was always a "mama" to everyone, providing a hot meal, support, wisdom, and a good laugh when needed. She instilled Christ in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as anyone else that crossed her path. Ruth loved children and that led her to the NEO-NATAL unit at Saint Joseph, he loved caring for infants. She retired from WH Brady after working 20 plus years of service. Affectionately called Mama Ruth, she was like no other, definitely one of a kind from her being silly, stern, witty, smart financially (sending those coins to grandchildren and all), and an amazing cook. Mama Ruth was beyond giving, she provided everything anyone could possibly need. Mama Ruth was the rock and foundation of our family. Through all of Mama Ruth's success from paying off her home to raising so many children, Mama Ruth has left a lasting legacy to look up to. The family will always remember some of Mama Ruth's famous sayings and hilarious references on the family and others. Ruth was joined in holy matrimony to the late Claude Motley Sr. on March 16th, he was a dedicated and committed mother and wife to their children and family. Mama Ruth took every opportunity to show her love for her family and other children and family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Motley, Sr., daughter, Viviane Graham; son, Claude Motley, Jr. and Chet Satterfield; parents, Charlie and Gustelia Harden; sisters, Naomi Northern, Bertha Strother, Jeanette Moffett, and Virginia White; brothers, William Lee Harden, Preston Harden, Samuel Harden, Julian Harden, and Robert Harden. Her legacy will live on through her family.
