Mrs Shirley Ann Griffin

Shirley A. Griffin entered into the world on August 5,1949, in Chicago Heights, 11. She was born to Lora Lee (McMurtry) and Jessie Wilder, Sr. Her family migrated to Milwaukee, WI where she was raised with 5 siblings. She received her formal education at Milwaukee Public Schools. From the very beginning, Shirley was a free spirit and lived life on her terms. Whether she was on a fishing trip with family, at a blues concert, or on a road trip without anybody's knowledge (Yes, you heard me right), she was a fun and bright light wherever she went. Shirley had three children with her first husband Tommy Bean. On August 19, 1989, she was united in holy matrimony with her second husband James H. Griffin in Milwaukee WI. As a child, Shirley spent a lot of time in Mississippi and always wanted to relocate there. They relocated to Thomastown, Mississippi where they lived until James' passing. Shirley accepted Christ in her life at an early age. Once in Mississippi, they joined Clark's Chapel Church under the leadership of Pastor William A. Thompson. She was an usher and loved attending bible study online (even after she relocated back to Wisconsin in 2021). Shirley was not afraid of hard work. She started her work journey in 1967. Her jobs included a nursing home, Globe Union, Briggs & Stratton,and Veteran's Hospital. She was a great cook and continued her career as a cook for schools and assisted living facilities until she retired. On her journey from time until eternity, Shirley was surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly. She now joins in heaven her: husband, James H. Griffin, her parents, Lora Lee and Jessie Wilder Sr., her grandmother, Lillian Stokes McMurty, her grandfather Joe William McMurtry, brothers, William Earl and Hosea Wilder, son Terrell Bean and sister Lillie (John) Davis. Although her earthly presence will be missed beyond measure, she leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Jacqueline (Myron) Chesser of Brown Deer WI, Andre Bean, Celia Bean of Madison WI; siblings, Jessie (Karen) Wilder, Jr. of Copperas Cove TX, Patricia Markey of Appleton WI, 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Shirley's season on earth has ended, but her love, light, and laughter will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved her.
