Mr. Timothy Gilbert

Timothy E. Gilbert, a resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on July 5, 2023, at Aurora Sinai Hospital. Born on May 18, 1959, he was the son of the late William R. Gilbert and Helen Hester (nee Rice) Cameron Gilbert. He was born, raised and spent most of his adult life on "The Lane", 15th Lane in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Timothy had a knack for telling jokes, and would often have those around him in stitches. His wit and humor were legendary, and he could have you laughing or wanting to fight with his quick wit and playing the dozens. No one was safe from his antics, even if you tried not to become one of his targets. As a precocious child, Timothy kept everyone on their toes, especially his protective older brother James Cameron. His mother, Helen viewed his clever behavior as a gift and often called him a genius. One thing that got on Tim's nerves was the sound of pencil lead dragging on paper. He would do his homework, writing with a pencil while noisily sucking in his breath like the noise hurt his ears. Tim loved to eat! Young Tim loved a good burger and would not hesitate leaving elementary school to get one for lunch that would land him in hot water. It wasn't uncommon to see him walking down the street with a bag of George Webb burgers. He also loved BBQ and pretty much, whatever you put on the table in front him. Timothy was a great dancer and loved to step, earning him the nickname "Step". When he was about 7 years old, he was a James Brown fanatic. His mother was determined to get him a James Brown outfit. However, his jacket was about two sizes too large, as were his shoes. The shoes were so long and he wore them so much that they turned up at the toes, making him look like a genie. He attended North Division High School where he excelled at tennis and was a graduating member of the Class of 1977. After high school, he went to work for Briggs & Stratton. He loved expensive cars and with that first job was able to buy a Mercedes. Often introducing himself as "Big Tim", because of his size and stature, he was charismatic and engaging. Timothy is survived by his brother and sister-in-law James and Georgia Cameron of Atlanta, Georgia; two nieces Kimberly Cameron of Durham, North Carolina and Kia Cameron Toodle of Atlanta, Georgia; a great nephew Cameron Toodle of Atlanta, Georgia and a great niece Brooke Cameron-Simmons of Durham, North Carolina. He is also survived by extended family members: aunts Mary Ann Fancher and Bobbie Perry; cousins Sabrina Philips, Gwynth Nelson, Valerie White, Fred Rice Jr., Fallon Rice, Ted (Sandra) Fancher, Patricia Fitten, Ronald Fancher, Kendall and Craig Reed: and long-time friends Rex Green and Darryl Hickman along with other relatives and friends. We are all stories in the end, remembered by the adventures we had, the achievements we made and the people we loved. Rest in peace, Tim.
