Mr. Willie H. Norwood

Willie Howard Norwood was born April 4, 1930 to the union of Murry Norwood, Sr. and Larsa Smith Norwood in Mt. Hebron, Alabama. He was the third child born to this union. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was united with Pleasant Valley Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor F. Jowes. He rededicated his life to Christ in 2004. Willie received his formal education in the Greene County School System in Boligee, Ala- bama. After high school, he joined the army and serviced in the Korean War for many years. After the war, he moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he met and married Edith Marie (Kitty) Robinson on June 4:·l955. From this union Jerome, Alphonso, Debra Ann and Andrea were born. He was instrumental in his family members moving to Wisconsin. After purchasing his first duplex, he invited several of is brothers and their wives to move to Milwaukee to live with him and his wife. Later many other family members moved to Milwaukee for better jobs and educational opportunities. Willie provided well for his family working at Miller and Pabst Brewery as well as American Motors then became a property owner in the City of Milwaukee. He was blessed to acquire a large number of rental properties of which he took great pride. He was a great landlord working hard to keep his buildings neat and clean. He respected his tenants and their rights. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend and all who knew him found him to be friendly, talkative, honest and giving. Willie went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2016. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edith Marie (Kitty) Norwood, a daughter, Debra Ann,father, Murry Norwood and mother, Larsa Norwood Summerville, stepfather, George Summerville, three sisters, Myrtle Candis Norwood Cox, Eva Summerville Amerson, Bessie Summerville Wherry and one brother, Inzer Summerville. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Jerome (Tanya) New Jersey, Alphonso, Milwau- kee, one daughter Andrea (Ann) Georgia, grandchildren, Janelle and Sydney Norwood, Pennsylvania and one grandson Korbin, Georgia, great grandchildren, Lalia and Omari, Pennsylvania, two brothers, Murry (Rosie) Norwood, Jr. and Roosevelt (Betty Catherine) Summerville, two sisters Emma Fayemi and Georgia Cattouse, one sister-in-law, Doris Summerville all of Milwaukee as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
