Mrs. Yvonne Marie (Mckinney)Davis

The late Franklin McKinney and the late C. Beatrice McKinney were blessed with the birth of their beautiful daughter YVONNE MARtE McKINNEY on a gorgeous Spring day. After four male siblings in a row, Jackie was thrilled with the arrival of her very first baby sister, whom she called: "Bunny Rabbit". Yvonne was born in St. Louis, Missouri, but spent her life in Racine and Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her mother, step-father, the late Jessie B. Moore and siblings: Jacqueline Allen, the late Claude White, Gerald McKinney (Mary Leary), the late James Me Kinney, Thomas McKinney (Gracie), Raymond, Gwendolynne and Brenda Moore. She graduated from West Division High School and Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Yvonne was a devoted and committed employee and served the Milwaukee community in various capacities, as a Milwaukee Public School Teacher, a Peer Counselor for abused women and at-risk families and as a Probation and Parole Officer from where she retired after twenty years of service to the State of Wisconsin. In addition to her professional work, Yvonne was an avid volunteer for causes ranging from preparing low income seniors' income taxes to volunteering for her sister's political campaigns. Yvonne possessed deft verbal skills: she could solve a New York Times crossword puzzle, out-spell an opponent in Scrabble, solve Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy queries in a flash. She was the happy fourth as a challenger and partner in a card game of Bid Whist or Bridge. A member of the beloved Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church family since age thirteen, Yvonne, a Soprano, loved to sing in the church choir and to work with the church's Women's Day programs. Yvonne was very artistic and loved writing poetry, arranging flowers and assisting with dramatic productions. Yvonne had strong, positive relationships with several parishioners and was a loyal and faithful friend. In particular, Betty Nicholas Braxton was as close as a sister to Yvonne, and remained ever faithful to Yvonne throughout her 3 year illness. Yvonne and her late husband, Robert I. Davis, were blessed with the birth of one daughter, whom she dearly loved, Catherine Marie Riley (Dickey). Everyone knew that granddaughter Janae Yvonne, whom she assisted in raising, was her pride and joy! She was also blessed with one loving grandson, Richard Riley. Nephews, nieces and great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins have enjoyed, and will never forget, Yvonne's good home cooking and specialty peach cobbler and lasagna. The Lord gave us Yvonne on Saturday, May 18, 1946. Nurtured by her mother C. Beatrice McKinney Lee, an icon in the Faith community, Yvonne grounded herself in Christian teaching and living. The Lord called Yvonne home from labor to reward after 25,999 days of this life on Friday, May 15,2015. , Praise God for Yvonne's life! To God be the glory!
